Book Policy
All students are required to have the coursebook materials for their classes. It is a condition of enrolment. Students are made aware of this policy during induction.
The €50 Materials Fee that all General English students pay at the point of registration includes payment for the student’s initial coursebook.
If a student changes level in the first week of their course and has maintained the coursebook in good condition with no writing in it, they can exchange this first one for the coursebook they will need in their new class. To receive a new book for a different level, during the first week of the course, there should be no writing inside the book, and no text or answers should be underlined or highlighted in any way. The spine and/or cover can show a little sign of wear but should not be torn or folded. Some coursebooks also come with a CD or DVD. These should also still be inside the cover of the book.
Students starting a course at International House Dublin are advised not to write in the coursebook until they are satisfied with the level that they have been assigned.
When a student changes from a General English course to an Exam preparation course, the student must buy a new book on the first week of the Exam preparation course. This can be purchased new in Reception for a fee of €50.
